Who Can Participate:
ALL Irvington 3rd, 4th and 5th graders!
What it is:
Feeding by Reading is a read-a-thon pledge drive where kids read books to raise money to feed hungry kids in their communities.
The super awesome kids of Irvington will be reading books to raise money to support the Church Women United Food (CWU) Pantry of Irvington. The CWU has served the Irvington community for over 25 years and provides food for 300-400 people every month.
The CWU provided food to over 1700 kids last year!
What your child can expect
Feeding by Reading is fun, active, and engagin. Readers can earn reading points and win prizes for reading. Readers will also get fun comics made just for them!
Reading is done after school hours and on weekends and days off. Books and program materials are provided. Motivated readers may also read additional books to earn more reading points.
The school with the highest reading points percentage will win a fun MAD Science Assembly program for their students!
Feeding by Reading is a community effort. Kids make their contribution by reading books. And anyone can support them by making a tax deductible donation safely and easily.
Share with your friends, neighbors, and coworkers! All the money raised goes to support the Church Women United Food Pantry of Irvington, NJ.
This is a great opportunity for individuals and businesses to help get kids reading AND feed people in our community!
Support your Readers!
Parent participation is highly encouraged! Inspire your child to read by reading with them. Help your child make a difference in the community by Reading.
As a parent, it is requested you also support you reader by signing a permission slip and media release form, as well as their Reading Sheets and other program materials where applicable.
Feeding by Reading is a community program. It’s about working together! Share Feeding by Reading with your friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers. Every effort you make to encourage reading and/or raise money goes to benefit the Irvington community!
